Kramfors company has ambitious plans for the future

Hans Persson at Hamek Verkstad has just had his last meeting in the Business Scaleup growth program.
- "I have received help in developing a five-year plan, so even though the program is over, I know how to continue working. My toolbox is bigger today. Within five years we want to have a turnover of 50 million and more than 20 employees," says Hans Persson, CEO of Hamek Verkstad.

Today they have a turnover of 26 million and 12 employees. Business Scaleup is a growth program run by BizMakerand aimed at micro and small businesses in Västernorrland. Since Hans Persson took over the company Hamek Verkstad, they have slowly but surely increased in growth. But in 2022 he came to a point where he needed help.

- My tools were not quite enough. I felt that I needed help with business development to grow and this program looked exciting," says Hans Persson, CEO of Hamek Verkstad.

The program is based on Navigator Scaleup's proven method and starts with a mapping of the company. Then the company is assigned four experts, so-called coaches, who are selected uniquely based on the individual company's need for external expertise.

- A lot has happened since we started the program in May 2022. We have changed the business system, developed the work environment and started laying the foundation for a new business system. We are also in the process of recruiting a site manager," says Hans.

Hans Persson believes that the business system will help them to standardize their way of working and thus lay the foundation for eventually obtaining ISO certification. With an ISO certificate, companies have proof that their products, services and systems meet certain requirements, which becomes a stamp of quality.

The program has enabled us to take these steps. It has been valuable to stop and think about what we are really good at and to formulate the business plan.

- The program has enabled us to take these steps. It has been valuable to stop and think about what Hamek is really good at and to formulate the business plan. We have done a review of the company's finances, so now we have better control.

Hans Persson feels that the program followed a clear structure but was still adapted to his needs.

- As an entrepreneur, I have been challenged in my role and also had to think about where I will be in five years. I have learned that you have to take help and let a larger sphere look at the business. It is not possible to have a helicopter perspective when you are in the eye of the storm.

Hamek Verkstad is a mechanical workshop with a wide range of production. Their customers include suppliers to industries and manufacturers of electric car chargers, various companies that do not have their own production. Products they manufacture include large machines, flue gas dampers and sand pockets.
