Approval opens billion-dollar market for tech startup

Tech start-up ITSL Solutions has developed a solution to securely share confidential information. The solution has now been approved by the government agency Digg. "It opens the doors to a billion-dollar market," says CEO Fredrik Jonasson.

Despite digitization, the public sector still uses faxes and brown envelopes to send classified information.

This includes everything from information needed for care planning in elderly care to an assessment of an application for income support in social services or reports of concern from the police to social services.

The explanation is legal barriers and the lack of secure digital alternatives.

Sundsvall-based tech start-up ITSL Solutions has developed a digital collaboration platform, Hubs, which allows sensitive information to be transferred digitally in a secure way.

Digg, the authority responsible for the national Secure Digital Communication (SDK) protocol, has now approved the solution.

- This means that municipalities and regions that are connected to SDK can use our platform. We are one of only a few companies that are approved," says Fredrik Jonasson, who runs the company together with partners Johan Ström and Patrik Jonasson.

The approval opens the doors to a huge market for ITSL Solutions.

- We are talking about major investments when the whole public sector will have to implement SDK solutions in the coming years. The majority of customers will be interested in a service to deliver the SDK, not to operate it themselves.

In addition to secure information capabilities, the Hubs platform includes collaboration tools and specialized tools for the public sector.

- Everything is based on open source code, which allows us to deliver a flexible and cost-effective solution," says Fredrik Jonasson.

Now, an intensive period of selling in awaits.

ITSL Solutions is participating in ongoing tenders and will present its offer at several fairs in the near future, including the Good Tech Conference on October 17, the E-Government Days on November 20-21.

- I'm very positive that we're getting our solution out on the market," says Fredrik Jonasson.
