Two promising sports tech startups receive capital from Tregion Startup Invest

After an investment day in Gävle, it is clear that WS Code AB from Sundsvall and MODD Sports AB from Dalarna will each receive SEK 500,000 in direct investments. Both companies combine technological innovation with a clear business strategy and aim to change the way we train and perform.

WS Code is a startup company from Sundsvall and participates in BizMaker's incubator program. The company has developed an app that uses video and motion detection to analyze shooting techniques in hockey - Hockeyfy. The technology makes it possible to get direct feedback on movement patterns, which can streamline both training and development. The Hockeyfy app is the first step in a larger plan; WS Code aims to become a leader in motion analysis for sport and health, with the potential to apply the technology across multiple sports and fields.

- The investment gives us the opportunity to continue developing the company and our future prospects. We have long struggled with extremely small resources to get where we are today and think it is super fun to get the chance to grow and expand, says William Sonesson, founder and CEO of WS Code.

MODD Sports is a start-up company from Dalarna and participates in Dalarna Science Park'sincubator program. The company has developed an innovative cross-country ski pole with the ambition to become "the world's fastest". Through a unique design and choice of materials, the pole has shown measurable improvements in performance in tests. Targeting elite skiers, MODD wants to challenge a traditional and brand-driven market with a product that stands out from the crowd.

- "We at MODD are in the middle of a market introduction with a lot of interest among elite skiers. Tregion's investment enables us to convert a number of these to contract skiers and ambassadors for MODD," says Mikael Östberg, CEO of MODD Sports.

Tregion's investment in WS Code and MODD Sports not only marks a financial boost, it is proof that there is both substance and confidence in the business ideas.

- What caught our eye was that both companies combine a strong vision with concrete results. They don't just have a good idea, they have a finished product, a clear purpose and an understanding of their market. WS Code has found a smart way to use technology to improve training in sports, with great potential to grow far beyond hockey. MODD Sports dares to challenge a conservative industry with an innovation that can actually impact performance at the elite level. Both teams have shown that they are ready to take the next step, and we look forward to being part of that journey," says Mikael Hellgren, investor in Tregion Startup Invest.
