Startups in Västernorrland receive support to apply for funding from Vinnova

Now, startups that are up to 10 years old can also apply for support from Vinnova's call for applications Innovative Startups 2025. To increase the proportion of applications from northern Sweden, targeted support is offered to companies in Västernorrland that want to grow through innovation.

Startups in Västernorrland now have the opportunity to apply for up to SEK 500,000 from Vinnova to develop their business ideas. In conjunction with the opening of the Innovative Startups 2025 call, a regional initiative is being implemented to support companies in writing competitive applications.

The call is aimed at innovative companies with ideas based on research, technology or cutting-edge expertise and that have the potential to create sustainable social benefit and growth. An important new feature in this year's call is that even companies that have been operating for five to ten years now have the opportunity to apply for funding.

More startups in Västernorrland can now take advantage of the support

To ensure that more companies from the region can benefit from the call, BizMaker, together with RISE , through the Processum Biorefinery Cluster , and other incubators in northern Sweden, has developed a joint support process. The initiative includes workshops, individual advice and feedback from experts in areas such as technology, business development and intellectual property law.

Erica Markusson, financing advisor at BizMaker, is responsible for the initiative and highlights the importance of working strategically with the application process.

– This type of support is more than just money. It is an exercise in formulating your value proposition, structuring your business and starting to think in partnership. It can be crucial for daring to take the next step and scale up, says Erica Markusson.

Advice and feedback from RISE

During June to August, participating companies will have the opportunity to discuss their projects with specialists and experts from RISE, who will provide technical expertise and experience in strategic project development.

– Getting qualified feedback early can be the difference between a good project and a really sharp one. We at RISE help raise the technical level, sharpen the formulations and find the common thread that makes the application strong but also relevant for future collaboration, says Johan Börjesson, group manager for innovation systems at RISE.

Application deadline August 26

The call from Vinnova is open until August 26, 2025. Decisions will be announced on October 28 and projects can start no later than November 25. Companies that want support in the application process are encouraged to contact BizMaker well in advance.
