New international cooperation opens up the world for Västernorrland

BizMaker and High Coast Invest join IASP, the international body for science parks and innovation actors. Closer contact with sister organizations and companies from around the world will strengthen BizMaker's network and create new opportunities for international collaboration.
- "We want to open the world to the companies and partners in Västernorrland that we work with," says Mona Sundin at BizMaker.

IASP works internationally to help its member organizations achieve growth, internationalization and efficiency. The organization brings together 350 members and more than 115 000 companies that are part of the members' network.

- "We have very good experiences of cooperation within SISP, which does the same thing at national level. We share methods and exchange experiences with other science parks and incubators," says Mona Sundin, Head of Science Park Operations at BizMaker.

IASP promotes innovation and business development issues through a wide range of forums and events. Among other things, IASP organizes an annual conference where members have met for 40 years to exchange experiences, find new collaborations and business opportunities.

- It is an environment where we can learn and be inspired by each other, but also meet many companies that want to access the international arena. It will be exciting to see what we can bring home to Västernorrland," says Mona Sundin.

BizMaker consists of three business areas: the incubator, which works to support innovative business ideas and early stage companies, so-called startups, the science park area, which works to develop and renew already established companies and public activities, and establishment promotion, which aims to attract new businesses to Västernorrland. The hope is that membership in IASP will benefit all three of these activities.

- It's very good timing. Västernorrland is hot, with major industrial establishments underway. Through our global network, we can help to both attract companies to Västernorrland and learn from what other actors are doing in similar situations abroad," says Mona Sundin.

Mikael Aamisepp, head of High Coast Invest, which is responsible for the establishment promotion work, sees great benefits from membership in IASP.

"Through High Coast Invest's cooperation with Business Sweden, we have seen how valuable it is to be in an international environment, many inquiries have come in that way. Membership in IASP gives us access to valuable networks and conditions for good international relations," he says.
