From startup to award winner, C-con sets its sights on Europe

C-con in Örnsköldsvik set the bar high with its own standard for safe and efficient industrial flows. Five years on, the pipe experts are celebrating new successes and preparing the next stage of expansion beyond Sweden's borders.

C-con works to create safe and efficient workplaces according to the motto "We secure the industrial bloodstream". In practice, this means inventorying, documenting and labeling pipe systems in large industries - from soda boilers to Northvolt's giant factory in Skellefteå. Just a few weeks ago, the young company was named Startup of the Year at Företagardagen in Örnsköldsvik.

- "We often look forward, but rarely look back. This is proof that we are doing something right, that we have created something good," says Clas Bergman, founder and owner of C-con.
Since the start in 2018, a long series of milestones have been passed. From taking the plunge and becoming an entrepreneur, to hiring, starting to work with more than one large customer, and then with customers in other locations.

Clas Bergman and CEO Magnus Häggström tell us:
- In the end, I came to a point where I was the biggest bottleneck. "Now I need someone to complement me", says Clas, who then took the step of handing over the CEO role to Magnus and continuing as owner and vice president.

- The company would not be the same without Clas, who has a lot of knowledge. But you get to a point where you need to help each other, when it's not enough to hire more technicians and more staff," says Magnus.

- "You came in with energy, forward thinking and experience. Letting go of some of the leadership also meant making C-con more independent of myself," Clas Bergman continues.
In 2021, a sales position was established, and since then the expansion has continued. Today, C-con's technicians can be found on shorter and longer assignments at industries along the entire Norrland coast, from Iggesund to Skelleftehamn.

C-con became part of BizMaker's incubator program early on, and has had ongoing contact with business developer Johan Vestberg.

- It has been very good to have a pillar of support, someone behind you who you can consult.

BizMaker has helped us build our network, to look big and inspire confidence among customers. This is important when working with large customers.

In its five-year plan, C-con is looking at the rest of Europe. The working methodology, internal training and good references are there. Perhaps the next phase begins with a step across the Baltic Sea.

- "Finland is good, there are a lot of pipes in Finland," says Magnus with a laugh.
