They have Västernorrland's best ideas

A life-saving fire accessory, a digital service that sharpens the voice, a flexible hotel concept and a soundproofing screen for the desktop. These are the innovations that won the coveted prizes in this year's edition of the jagharenide.nu competition.

Yesterday, the winners of the 2023 edition of the jagharenide.nu competition were presented at a festive awards ceremony in Örnsköldsvik. The competition, which started in 2007 and is organized by BizMaker, received 39 entries from Western Norway this year.

- The innovation should solve a challenge and fill a need. But it must also be sustainable, feasible and scalable," explains Ewa Sandeheim, Project Manager and Competition Manager.

After the jury has reviewed all the entries, the four with the highest scores have been selected as winners.

The first prize goes to Bo Andersson, Örnsköldsvik, who developed an evacuation aid and accessories for smoke alarms. The innovation includes a control box for the battery and shows the way out of a smoke-filled room.

- I didn't expect to win first place, but I have to admit that it feels really good," said a delighted winner as he accepted the prize.

In second place is Anna Nilsson, Sundsvall, whose digital service allows customer service companies, for example, to analyze and sharpen employees' voices so they last all day.

Everyone is offered advice by BizMaker or our partners Almi and Nyföretagarcentrum to take their idea further.

The third prize winner is Aron Gröning, Sundsvall, who developed a flexible room-in-room solution with affordable hotel rooms.

This year, the jury has also named the 'Bubbles of the Year': Jacob Grape, Sundsvall, who has developed a solution that effectively shields disturbing sounds while working or studying.

The winners receive between €10,000 and €50,000 to further develop their ideas.

- The money is used to buy expert services from local consultancies, so it's a real win-win," says Ewa Sandeheim.

But none of the participants will be left out of the competition, she stresses.
