BlåGrön Odling launches its new growing system for shops

BlåGrön Odling is an upstart from Norrland in the hot foodtech industry. They have now developed a complete cultivation system with all-inclusive agreements for grocery stores, which will be able to offer their own store-grown fresh and tasty salads and spices - all year round.

- Unlike other larger systems that are planned outside stores or in special indoor growing rooms, this is a compact, modular growing system that meets the customer directly in the store. "One module can produce up to 3,300 spice plants per year on 0.7 m2," says Olof Frensborg, co-founder and principal owner of the Härnösand company BlåGrön Odling AB.

BlåGrön Odling is developing a climate-smart circular and closed cultivation system based on hydroponics. The method of cultivation creates the opportunity to produce your own crops in grocery stores, restaurants and other public environments.

Four years of development have resulted in a completely new cultivation system that creates easier handling for the staff in the stores, an expanded range of cultivable crops, environmentally and economically more sustainable, a higher quality, greater production opportunities and cloud-based control functions for nutrition and care. Erik Geijer and ICA Kvantum in Kvissleby have served as a reference store in the development work.

- In our new system, you will be able to grow and harvest basil, romaine lettuce, lamb's lettuce, black cabbage, kale, coriander, parsley, oregano and thyme. And it tastes absolutely wonderful," adds Development Manager Nawras Alashour.

- BlåGrön Odling AB is driven by the vision of a sustainable world. When the availability of water and arable land decreases due to climate change, the development of economically viable and environmentally sustainable cultivation methods is an important part of the solution," concludes Olof.

Olof Frensborg is the company's main owner and co-founder, but BlåGrön Odling AB would never have been started if Olof had not met Nawras Alashour, who came with the large wave of refugees from Syria. One of the first times they met was in a cell in the then defunct prison in Härnösand, which had been converted into a refugee center.
